Avatar breaks ground on TerraLargo’s amenity center
March 09, 2006
Construction is under way on an amenity center that will provide resort-style community recreation to residents of TerraLargo – a master-planned community created with Tuscan-inspired architecture and landscaping – off Sleepy Hill Road.
Community amenities will include a clubhouse, state-of-the-art fitness center, courtyards with sculpted landscaping, a children’s playground, a resort-style pool and a whirlpool spa, says Francesca Vereb, director of marketing for the gulf coast and south Florida operations of Avatar Properties Inc., the community’s developer and exclusive builder.
Vistors will pass a richly landscaped roundabout with fountain at the community entrance on their way to the clubhouse – with about 5,000 square feet of floor space, as well as views of waterways, nature preserves, 29-acre Meadow View Lake, and gently rolling terrain.
Inside are a reception lounge; multi-purpose room; the fitness center with imported European equipment; full locker facilities with restrooms and showers; a playroom; and kitchen.
A covered, column-and-arch-accented terrace spans the entire width of the clubhouse and leads to a 6,000-square-foot pool deck and 3,500-square-foot zero-entry pool and the spa over-looking the lake. From the pool area, residents also will have access to a private boat dock on the lake, which can be used for non-motorized watercraft. Additional amenities include a covered lakefront cabana and picnic areas.
When completed, TerraLargo will have six villages with 618 single-family and executive residences on 50- and 70-foot-wide homesites. Homes – ranging from about 1,400 to more than 3,000 square feet of living space – are expected to be priced from mid-$200s including homesite.
Tuscan stone benches, fountains and plant-accented columns appear throughout the com-munity, while trees and shrubs have been sculpted to mimic Mediterranean cypress trees. More-over, a pallette of ornamental flowers in yellow, red and pink accent the community as an homage to Italy’s Tuscany region.
Homes and amenities at TerraLargo overlook waterways, nature preserves, the lake, and gently sloping terrain. With a national reputation for thoughtful environmental planning, Avatar set aside more than 60 percent of this community’s acreage for open space, recreation and conser-vation areas.
TerraLargo is five miles southeast of Interstate 4 at exit 32 in Polk County. Just off State Road 98, the community – equidistant from Tampa and Orlando – is near Lakeland Square Mall, schools and a YMCA.
Avatar Properties Inc., one of Florida’s premier builders and developers, is the development arm of Avatar Holdings Inc., a public company primarily engaged in real estate operations in Florida and Arizona.
Aside from developing and building in TerraLargo, Avatar builds executive residences and townhomes in Tampa’s Cory Lake Isles; and Sterling Hill, a Devco community in Hernando County. Avatar also develops or builds in the major master-planned communities of Poinciana, Solivita and Bellalago, near Orlando; Woodslanding, Frenchman’s Yacht Club and Harbor Islands in south Florida; and Majestic Oaks in Brooksville.
