Avatar opens new Lakeland community

Avatar Properties Inc. has officially opened its newest master-planned community, TerraLargo, located on 640 acres off Sleepy Hill Road in Lakeland.

Once completed, TerraLargo will feature six residential villages with 618 single-family and executive residences on 50- and 70-foot-wide home sites.

Avatar says it plans to offer 10 floor plans ranging from 1,400 to more than 3,000 square feet of living space priced from the low to mid-$200s.

The centerpiece of the community is the 5,000-square-foot TerraLargo Club, which includes a reception lounge, a kitchen, a multipurpose room, a fitness center and a children's playroom. Outside the club is a deck and terrace with another 6,000 square feet that circles around a 3,500-square-foot pool.

Avatar Properties is the development arm of Coral Gables, Fla.-based Avatar Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: AVTR), a public company involved in real estate operations in Florida and Arizona.
